Why I started this:

Meet Carrie Smith, CNM, IBCLC

I know what it’s like to be up all night, giving everything to a career you love until there’s nothing left for yourself.

Yes, I deliver babies, but “midwife” literally means “with woman.” I have trained to be with women through every phase, not just birth.

For years, I ran on adrenaline and caffeine — proud, exhausted, and thinking I was fine — until my body and spirit said otherwise. To say the least, I no longer recognized myself in the mirror.

I hit rock bottom. That was my wake-up call.

With a lot of help, I rebuilt my health and my peace, one small shift at a time. I learned that healing isn’t about perfection — it’s about rhythm, forgiveness, and boundaries.

Now I help other nurses do the same, no matter what shift they work.

I’ve been on night shift my entire adult life. I’ve been a birth doula, a night-shift med/surg nurse, travel L&D nurse living out of hotels, and currently a full-scope board-certified midwife taking call — sometimes for 72 hours straight.

Whether it’s birth, burnout, or rebuilding yourself after both, my calling has always been the same — to stand beside women as they find their strength again.
